A note from the director
People ask what pushed this film into existence. The honest answer is that I could not look away. The images coming out of Gaza, children dying in front of my eyes on my own social feeds, saddened me beyond anything a treatment or a pitch deck can hold. Being of Romani descent myself on my mother's side, I carry a sharpened sensitivity to what happened during the Second World War, to the treatment of minorities in the internment and extermination camps: Jewish people, Slavic people, communists, anarchists, Roma, disabled people. History keeps a long list of children who were never protected. The Last Child came from that place. I had to make this film, not only for the children of Gaza, but for all the children of the world.
